Live Life Acupuncture, Bettina Roeper, Pregnancy & Pediatrics

Moxa is the dried leaf of the mugwort plant and is used by TCM practitioners for its warming and nourishing characteristics. Moxibustion refers to the burning of moxa and is used to warm entire body regions or specific acupuncture points with the intention to build qi and blood. Moxibustion is especially effective in chronic musculoskeletal conditions. It can also serve to turn breech babies. Adding Moxa to an acupuncture treatment is quite relaxing. I often teach my patients how to safely administer this warming treatment modality to themselves at home, which allows them to become part of their own healing process.
